Books and baby belly buttons
Daisy thoroughly enjoys reading time, especially turning the pages. Those chubby little hands reach for the cardboard book and you'd think she was reading all on her own.I can't get enough of these organic cotton pjs! I used to think sleepers were the cutest thing but they don't compare to these! And check out that belly button! Is it not just the most precious thing you've ever seen?! Daisy does this little pose that looks like she's doing her crunches. She does it while playing, laying down, getting her diaper changed, in the car seat, all the time! She's going to have abs way before I ever do! I believe my daughter is park monkey. She's constantly trying to hold things with her feet, she'll pinch your skin with her toes, and she even tries to pull the duck on her carseat with them! She was trying to figure out how to pick up her cow and book at the same time. It was adorable!

On the move
Milestones:
Daisy has officially entered the crawling stage. It's more of an army crawl, but she's constantly on her hands and knees rocking herself back and forth. The blanket I lay out for her to play on no longer seems big enough, she still ends up on the hardwood most of the time. She's also sitting up on her own but for a short amount of time each time. As long as she has something in front of her to keep her occupied she does really well, it's when she starts looking around that she flops backwards or sideways. I've been sitting her on the floor surrounded by a ring of pillows and toys so that when she falls she's got a soft landing. Twice in the last week I have found Daisy sleeping on her tummy with her butt straight up in the air! A few times she's been twisted, chest down, legs off to the side. Both of these are huge because she used to not go back to sleep if she rolled onto her tummy. She looks so precious when she sleeps this way it just makes my heart leap. I'd share a picture but I'm not crazy enough to risk waking a sleeping baby!
Food:
As far as food goes Daisy has tried Peas, squash, carrots, cereal, and bananas. She likes: Carrots, carrots, and carrots. At this rate she will probably be an Oompa Loompa baby in no time. Last night I made my first batch of homemade organic carrot baby food and it is freezing as we speak. I made about 50 oz for $2! It's say it's well worth the time! Green beans and sweet potatoes are on the menu for daisy to try next!
I can't believe Daisy is already 7 1/2 months old! I weighed her the other day and she weighs about 15 lbs and she's still wearing 3-6 months clothes. We've got a peewee on our hands!

Noise
Since having a baby everyday noises seem so much louder! I've come to wish there was volume control on the microwave as it beeps at the press of every button and the long drawn out ring of the timer on the stove going off. Right after Daisy was born we set up a pack'n'play in our dining room/kitchen area that is also right next to our living room. Daisy would nap for hours on end through all the hustle and bustle in the house and the tap tap tap of the dogs claws on the hardwood floor. We wanted it this way. We weren't going to resort to being silent in our own home just because the baby was sleeping. That worked great until about a month or two ago. Now I can't even flush the toilet without waking Daisy up when she's napping in her crib! Not to mention open any cabinet door in the kitchen, the backdoor, the screen door or her closet door for some unforeseen reason. There's also a nice little creak right over the threshold in Daisy's room which causes me to tiptoe and lunge out her door in hopes that I'll overstep it. And don't even get me started on the dog, she's gotten the evil eye a lot lately as she's a random barker (oh look a bird, out the window, 1/2 a mile away!) and that tap tap tap of her claws. When she's constantly moving I give her the "I dare you to walk past that bedroom door one more time" look and all the while in my head I'm wondering if I can put those little wax claw shields on her that they have for cats so they don't scratch things. I'm hoping maybe this is just a phase, but in the mean time I am trying to drown out all noise in her room with soft music and a fan.

6 months old and Father's day!
As of last Friday Daisy is 6 months old! 6 MONTHS! How did this happen! It seems like just yesterday I was bringing her home from the hospital in an outfit that about swallowed her whole! Daisy and I spent the day at a local amusement park with my grandparents and my cousins and then we had burgers around the fire pit that evening. Saturday we introduced Daisy to rice cereal. All along I have planned on not giving her anything other than breastmilk until 6 months old, so this was quite the treat for her!
Father's day we woke up, cuddled in bed, and all fell back asleep for a little while. Then Daniel and I made a big breakfast of sausage, eggs, belgian waffles, and COFFEE! Can't forget the coffee! We watched 2 church services that we missed while on vacation (I promise, post to come!). We spend the rest of the day lounging around.
I must say it was a weekend well spent!

Cuddling with daddyPulling daddy's beard :-)Flying!And last but not least, the faces I imagine Daisy will make one day when she's caught with her hand in the cookie jar!
Cookie? What Cookie?Who me? Then we had my parents over for a Chili dinner and No Bake Vanilla Cake Batter Chocolate Truffles. Warning! Eating too many will surely induce a sugar coma! We also Skyped a little with my brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew! Daniel and I spent the rest of the evening watching Friends and playing Uno Stackers and Boggle!
I must say it was a weekend well spent!

Motherhood has taught me...
Breastfeeding is not always as easy as it seems. Daisy has always been a phenomenal eater. Not much could get between her and the boob, literally I think she could have nursed through my shirt when I couldn't get things situated fast enough for her appetite. Daisy is now a very active 5 1/2 month old. Things have changed. I am very thankfully that she is still a very focused eater first thing in the morning and right before bed, I credit this to the fact that she is very sleepy both times. However all of the other feeding throughout the day have become a fight between my and a wiggle worm!
Nothing can be within reach of her feet or she might as well be in a horizontal Johnny Jumper bouncing all over the place.
Necklaces are not an option in fear that she will rip them from my neck.
My hair should be pulled back at all times unless I want to risk some very unusual looking bald patches.

Nursing in public is almost impossible, too much is going on and Daisy is a wallflower that wants to observe it all.
Heaven forbid the t.v. be on.
Don't play Yahtzee while nursing, you might as well be holding a rattle instead of rolling dice.
And last but not least, when teething, your nipple suddenly becomes the next best thing to a teething ring. Not good news for you, and certainly not for your nipple.
I have been tempted lately to start bottle feeding her throughout the day some of the frozen breast milk I have in our deep freezer and pumping to replenish our supply but continue to nurse her first and last feeding of the day.
I am going to attempt to hold out as long as possible so we'll see!

As stated on facebook 2 WEEKS ago...
I misplaced my motivation, therefore I don't have it to look for it!
Whew! That is exactly how I have felt the last 2 weeks, and these last few cold and dreary days haven't helped one bit! But guess what?! THE SUN IS SHINING TODAY! And I won't need to wear a jacket to go outside! Wooohoooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I seriously should have gone and sat under my mom's "happy light" and gotten a good dose of vitamin D! Granted my motivation is still not back in full swing, it has picked up a little bit!
This past weekend Daisy and I took a quick road trip to Nashville to visit some old friends from my high school years. We got lunch with Cassie whose little boy just turned 4! (Wholly molely!) And then spent Friday and Saturday night with Jaden and her husband Travis who are expecting a little boy the beginning of October! We had a blast and got to give the future little one a hat I made! We've had a short week here at home and we're preparing for another road trip this weekend because Daisy's cousins Hannah and Eli are turning THREE! Where has the time gone? My brother has 3 years old twins, that's just plain crazy!
Here are some snapshots of what the last month and a half have looked like:

Mash up
Motherhood has taught me (Tuesdays) and Things we love (Thursdays) is being combined this week. Why you ask? Because motherhood has taught me I no longer can remember what day of the week it is! The only thing we do every week that is the same is go to church on Sundays. So as long as I can remember how many days ago Sunday was I can usually figure out what day of the week it is. But this week for instance we went to church on Saturday night because we were already in town. Therefore my whole week has been thrown off! No matter how many times I look at the calendar, ok lets be honest here, the calendar on my phone, some days I still can't get engrained in my head. *On a side note, I'd just love to see one day that all cellphones, computers, anything with a date, just randomly decide to skip a day, like a Monday, nobody likes them anyways! I can't imagine how much our world would be up in a tizzy! Sometimes I hate technology, just as I say this I'm looking around thinking "Crap! Where'd I leave my cell phone?"
On to things we LOVE...
Baby slippers! We have two pair and we adore them! The pink ones I believe are from Uncle Bruce, Aunt Marlina, and Zack! And the Pooh slippers are from our neighbors, her honorary grandparents, Ed and Sandy! One of my favorite conversations I have between Daniel and Daisy is when she was wearing the Pooh slippers and Daniel said "Daisy you have Pooh on your slippers! Not like poop, but Pooh bear!" I silently chuckled from the other room not wanting to disturb this beautiful bonding moment.

Rollin' rollin' rollin'
Betcha can take a wild guess at what Daisy did today? She rolled over!!! Yay! Another milestone reached! It all started last night when she was laying on her back on her mat and started rocking side to side. She'd try and try but could quite figure out what to do with the arm on the bottom but today she figured it out and over she went! Baby proofing is officially in progress!

Motherhood has taught me...
It is best to make sure Daisy has eaten really well and is in a very deep sleep before I attempt to cut her itty bitty baby nails! And even then when she's completely still I'm a nervous wreck! Lately her nails have been growing so fast and if I don't cut them in time she claws at her face :-( We use the Safety 1st nail clippers and I love them! They're tiny but the white bulb fits perfectly in your palm so you can hold them very steady!

Craziness
This week has been complete MADNESS! Hopefully that is a good enough excuse for missing 'Motherhood has taught me Tuesdays" and 'Things we love Thursday!' Monday was mine and Daniel's 2 year anniversary! Tuesday my mom, Daisy, and I drove to Chattanooga where I grew up and saw dear family friends who have known me my whole life, my first grade teacher, my fifth grade teacher, my best friend of 16+ years (seriously it's been so long I've lost count!) and her mom, two of my mom's dear friends from college and the daughter and grandchildren of one of them! AND to top it all off we stayed with family friends that my parents have known since they were 18 and I've known their daughter since she was born. (she turns 16 today=I feel OLD!)
Thursday was Daisy's 4 month check up. Weight 12lbs 9.5oz (30%) Height 24 3/4in (75%) In other words she's a string bean! She got 3 more shots and poor thing took them like a champ! She hardly cried and she soothed very quickly this go round. Poor thing cried uncontrollably last night, the leg she got 2 shots in was a little red and inflamed at the injection site so we put a cold compress on it and gave her some baby Tylenol. She finally fell asleep and slept well all throughout the night. She's had a little fever today and has napped a lot :-(
Today my brother, sister-in-law, and their almost 3 year old twins were in town. I woke up at 6AM to make cinnamon rolls to go along with the breakfast casserole my mom made! Tonight we are having dinner with some of Daniel's family, tomorrow night we are having an Easter dinner with my parents, and Sunday we are going to visit some of Daniel's family so they can meet Daisy for the first time! Needless to say I'm not going anywhere other than the grocery store for the next week and a half!

We ♥ Cloth Diapers!
For as long as I can remember I have been determined to use cloth diapers. I can't even begin to describe the bizarre faces people have made when I've informed them of this fact. The faces I can handle, it's the annoying "Yeah right, you can't do that, you'll change your mind" comments that drove me insane. Most people acted like my hope to use cloth diapers was more like wishful thinking. Now that we've actually been using them people seem more surprised than discouraging. I highly recommend cloth diapering! I have been blessed with the ability to be a SAHM which I am sure makes it a lot more realistic to use cloth diapers. If I had to put my little one in daycare I'm sure I'd get some of the craziest looks from daycare workers if I asked them if they would use them on Daisy. Using cloth diapers takes a little more work than using disposables but compared to the money (and planet) saved it is well worth the little extra effort!
We use prefold diapers and Snappi diaper fasteners, with the Thirsties Duo Wrap covers.
The Thirsties Duo Wraps come in a variety of adorable colors and the option of velcro or snap closures. I prefer the velcro closures since they give a more accurate fit around the waist, though some people complain they collect lint just like any other velcro closure. These covers come in 2 sizes, Size One and Size Two, but each size had 3 size options, choosing the snap that make the most secure fit. I highly recommend these covers! Having the multiple size options per cover means you have to buy less of them in the long run!
When on the go I take along 2 large Kushies Wet Bags, one for dirty diapers and the other for extra covers. These are also great for soiled clothes, burp clothes, etc. I just throw them in the wash along with the cloth diapers and hand them to dry!I've even taken the cloth diapers on a few trips. So far I haven't had any problems, though I do plan on investing in more of the wet bags! When we're heading out of town I Throw all of her prefolds and covers in my Blue Avocado Reusable shopping bag! I can fit all 25 prefolds and 8 covers in one bag. When I'm not using this bag for cloth diapers I keep it balled up and clipped to my diaper bag for any spontaneous shopping!
I recently purchased 2 reusable swim diapers and should be getting them in the mail any day now! I can't wait to see how they work! I'll be sure to let you know! Here are a few pictures of Daisy in her Prefold cloth diapers with snappies and her Thirsties covers!
